The H\u00f4tel de Bourvallais was built in 1699. It was constructed for Joseph-Guillaume de Vieuxville. Later Paul Poisson de Bourvallais owned it. In 1718 the King’s Council assigned it to the Chancellor of France. Fran\u00e7ois d’Aguesseau was the first Chancellor to live here.

The H\u00f4tel de Bourvallais has been home to the Minist\u00e8re de la Justice since its creation. Danton stayed here briefly in 1792. The building has been renovated over the years. It reflects different eras of French history.
