Ever wondered about the secrets held within Hauser Schloss? This magnificent building standing proudly before us isn’t just a castle it’s a testament to a fascinating life. Hauser Schloss also known as Schloss Allach or Schloss Waldeck was built around 1900. Its creator was Lorenz Hauser a Bavarian farmer and the so-called “Millionenbauer von München-Neuhausen”. He wasn’t just any farmer. His lavish lifestyle and extravagant parties made him quite notorious.

Hauser’s initial plans called for a simple hunting lodge. But twice he had the unfinished structure torn down. It simply didn’t meet his ambitious vision. The final result? A luxurious castle far grander than a hunting lodge. The building was far more expensive than often claimed. It cost not millions but a still considerable 500000 Marks.

The main building boasts a three-part facade adorned with coats of arms and knightly figures. A five-story tower crowns the structure. Look closely. You’ll notice symbolic attributes like lion heads Medusa heads dragons bats and other flying creatures. Hauser even immortalized himself in some of the carvings. He’s depicted as a monk clutching a money bag a humorous detail reflecting his wealth and possibly a hint of self-deprecating humor.

Inside the castle a grand central staircase hall remains unchanged. It features a breathtaking ceiling painting “Phoebus in the Chariot of the Sun” by Johann Schaschko. Frescoes by Schaschko and Walter Heubach add to the opulent atmosphere. The ground floor housed a room called the “Apostle Room” a music room and a marble room complete with a fountain. A wine cellar and former kitchen are located in the basement. A lift transported food to the upper floors. Sadly none of the original furnishings survive.

Lorenz Hauser didn’t reside here forever. He sold Hauser Schloss in 1908 to Count Alexander von Boos zu Waldeck. It changed hands several more times. During World War II it served as a command post and hospital. After the war US soldiers occupied the castle. They even started a hunting and fishing club. A barbecue in the entrance hall nearly destroyed the castle in a fire.

In 1955 MAN purchased the estate. They restored the castle extensively. Today Hauser Schloss serves MAN as a reception area and guesthouse for VIPs. It remains inaccessible to the public. However its presence is undeniable a breathtaking monument to a colorful past. Its existence is a testament to its builder’s grand aspirations its multiple owners and its survival through times of war. The view from the Wörth Canal offers a glimpse into this fascinating story. And so we leave Hauser Schloss its enigma and its story still echoing through its walls.
