Universitas Indonesia’s Pascasarjana Multidisplin once resided here. This multidisciplinary program offered master’s and doctoral degrees. Established in July 1990, it played a vital role in interdisciplinary studies. Dr. Elizabeth Kristi Poerwandari led it during a transitional period.
Originally, Pascasarjana Multidisplin housed several areas of study. These included American Studies, Environmental Science, and more. By February 2000, it coordinated only multidisciplinary programs. Monodisciplinary programs moved to their respective faculties.
Pascasarjana Multidisplin underwent significant changes on July 1, 2016. It transitioned into two separate schools. These were the School of Environmental Science and the School of Strategic and Global Studies. This restructuring aimed to sharpen the focus of graduate studies.
Before 1982, postgraduate education occurred before the formal establishment. In 1950, Universitas Indonesia produced its first doctoral graduates. These early programs were self-directed. The government later mandated structured doctoral programs in 1987.
The location of Gedung Kuliah Strata 1 dan Pasca Sarjana is strategic. Unlike most Universitas Indonesia faculties in Depok, it sits in Salemba. Its address is Jalan Salemba Raya No 4, Central Jakarta. This central location makes it accessible to many students.
