He was a shoe salesman, a businessman with a burning desire to share the gospel. He believed in equipping everyday people to do the work of ministry. That’s how Moody Bible Institute was born. He envisioned a place where anyone, regardless of background, could come and be trained to “rightly divide the word of truth,” as their motto, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15, proclaims. And for over a century, that’s exactly what they’ve done. From classrooms to radio waves, Moody’s impact stretches far beyond these walls. They’ve published books, launched radio stations, and even started a school to train missionary pilots. You see, D.L. Moody wasn’t content with just talking about faith.
