Success came early when their Great Northern Porter won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 1987. The brewery expanded in 1998, moving to its current location overlooking the Mississippi River. This new facility allowed them to keep up with the soaring popularity of their flagship beer, Summit Extra Pale Ale.
