It was the 125th anniversary of the church and the rededication of its original sanctuary. This wasn’t just any anniversary though. Founded in 1899, it stands as the second oldest Catholic parish in Dallas County. The original sanctuary, a charming white wooden structure, has seen its share of history. In 1921 a tornado shifted the church off its foundation. This prompted the parishioners to turn the building to face the newly designated Bankhead Highway. The church was moved again in 1992 to accommodate the growing congregation. Then in 2020, it was moved once more to make way for a new sanctuary. The rededication in 2023 marked the completion of a multi-year restoration project. This project brought the sanctuary back to its former glory. The refurbished pews, the gleaming stained-glass windows. It’s a testament to the community’s commitment to preserving their heritage.
