Built for the 1990 Asian Games, Accion Fukuoka was designed to inspire action and movement. It comprises two distinct facilities. These are the Fukuoka Prefectural Sports Science Information Center and the Fukuoka Prefectural General Pool. The Sports Science Information Center, the main arena of Accion Fukuoka, is a hub for indoor sports. Imagine a vast space, 46 meters by 39 meters, capable of holding 2,000 spectators, 1,160 in fixed seating. This is where the energy of basketball, volleyball, and even boxing matches has filled the air. In 1995, during the Universiade, this very arena hosted volleyball matches. Today, it serves as the home court for the Rising Zephyr Fukuoka, a B.League basketball team, continuing the legacy of athletic prowess. Next door, the Fukuoka Prefectural General Pool offers two sizes of pools: a 25-meter and a 50-meter pool. Interestingly, the deeper 50-meter pool has a unique restriction. During winter, it transforms into a skating rink, offering a completely different kind of athletic activity. This dual-purpose design makes Accion Fukuoka a truly versatile venue. In 1995, the Universiade saw both swimming and diving competitions held here.
