One of the easiest waterfalls to reach in Lorne, Phantom Falls is a short and rewarding hike. The return trip is approximately 3.5 kilometers and takes around 90 minutes, perfect for a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Otway Ranges. From the Allenvale Mill car park, the path gently climbs alongside the St. George River. Eventually, you’ll reach the top of the falls and then descend stairs to the base of the waterfall, where you can fully appreciate its magic. You might even hear the distant echoes of the Falls Festival, which is held annually in the area. Keep an eye out for kangaroos. They are known to graze in the paddocks and around the orchard, especially at sunset. Remember to be respectful of the environment and the private property you cross.
