By the early 20th century Chicago had the largest number of Chinese Sunday schools among all cities. These schools often opened near Chinese-owned laundry businesses on the South and West Sides. These schools served as religious and cultural hubs. By 1995 however these smaller Sunday schools had ceased to exist.
