Did you know Beaufords Reception Centre lies within the grounds of Tōtara Park? During the first half of its colourful 90-year life, Beaufords served as a luxurious hideaway for prominent Aucklanders.
The English Cottage half of the house was constructed in the mid-1920s by Arthur Gilles. The Gunson family purchased the house in 1932. They added the concrete Neo-Georgian extension shortly after.
In 1947, Charles Prevost transformed it into a grand holiday retreat. The house was notorious for its glamorous parties. In 1968, Charles sold the house to Manukau City Council. It has been leased as a restaurant and reception rooms since then.
Please remember that alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. Check the rules for each park and view ban maps. Also, our parks are all smokefree.
Use bins to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins, take all rubbish and recycling with you. It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.
