But a reckless driver, ignoring a red light, struck him. Gerardo, a 41-year-old technical consulting engineer, lost his life that day. The driver? He was merely cited for disobeying lane markings. His family was devastated. In their grief, they chose to honor Gerardo with this ghost bike, a symbol of the vulnerability of cyclists in a city built for cars.
