At the heart of DTU’s Lyngby campus, just north of Copenhagen, stands DTU Compute. It’s not just another building. It’s Denmark’s largest hub for mathematics and computer science. DTU Compute isn’t confined to a single structure. It sprawls across several buildings, the most prominent being the new Building 324. This place is a hive of activity, with around 200 full-time staff and postdocs, and about 150 PhD students. It’s practically a small faculty in itself. DTU Compute is divided into 10 research sections. These sections delve into algorithms, logic, graphs, cognitive systems, cryptology, and much more. They explore the fascinating worlds of dynamical systems, embedded systems engineering, image analysis, computer graphics, and language-based technology. And that’s not all. They also cover mathematics, scientific computing, software engineering, statistics, and data analysis. DTU Compute is headed by Professor Rasmus Larsen, with Professor Jan Madsen as vice-director. Kristian Kristiansen manages the Secretarial, IT, and Computing facilities. Each of the research sections is led by a dedicated section head. DTU Compute offers a comprehensive range of courses at all levels. These courses equip future engineers with essential mathematics and computer science skills. Introductory subjects, particularly mathematics, statistics, and programming, are integrated into almost all DTU study programs. Every engineering student at DTU spends time at DTU Compute. This collaborative environment fosters knowledge creation and innovation, shaping tomorrow’s society. The department takes pride in its engineering-focused approach. This practical approach ensures that the knowledge gained here is directly applicable to various future jobs. DTU Compute graduates are highly sought after.
