In 1984, a handful of families from Leander United Methodist Church yearned for a place of worship closer to home. They dreamt of a spiritual haven in Cedar Park. This dream blossomed into the Cedar Park First United Methodist Church. These founding families, deeply committed to their faith, laid the very foundation of this sanctuary. They poured their hearts and souls, not just into the church’s activities, but also into its physical construction. Cedar Park United Methodist Church stands as a testament to their dedication. The church’s journey wasn’t always easy. The economic tides of Cedar Park ebbed and flowed, presenting challenges along the way. Yet, the Cedar Park United Methodist Church remained steadfast, growing stronger with each passing year. In 2009, the church embraced a more traditional identity, becoming “First United Methodist Church.” However, it retained its core values, remaining “A Spiritual Oasis, Committed to Christ, to Peace and to Service.” The church has always extended its hand to the community. From tutoring elementary students to delivering Meals on Wheels, the Cedar Park United Methodist Church embodies the spirit of giving. They prepare school backpacks for children in need and support local organizations like Hill Country Community Ministries. Youth mission trips offer opportunities for spiritual growth and service to others. Cedar Park United Methodist Church opens its doors to various community groups, offering a space for Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Alcoholics Anonymous, and ESL classes. The church’s history is marked by several building milestones. First services were held in 1984 at Faubion Elementary School. The sanctuary building was completed in 1987. The Multi Ministries Building followed in 2005. Further enhancements include a renovated parking lot in 2016, a Memorial Outdoor Sanctuary in 2018, and landscaping improvements in 2019. Cedar Park United Methodist Church remains a vibrant hub of faith and community. It stands as a beacon of hope and service in the heart of Cedar Park.
