Dominik Brunner’s story is one of bravery. He was a businessman born in Stuttgart in 1959. He died in Munich on September 12, 2009. Brunner was the CFO of Erlus AG. This company was Germany’s largest roof tile manufacturer.
His life took a tragic turn when he intervened to protect schoolchildren. Two older teenagers were threatening them on a Munich S-Bahn train. The teenagers tried to rob the children. Brunner stepped in.
At Múnchen Solln station, the situation escalated. Brunner was brutally attacked. He was punched and kicked over twenty times. Sadly, he died at the scene. A pre-existing heart condition contributed to his death.
The attackers, Markus Schiller and Sebastian Leibinger, faced charges. The court found them guilty. Schiller received a sentence of nine years and ten months. Leibinger was sentenced to seven years.
