Inside the Patinoire Charlemagne, you will find much more than just an ice rink. There are technological offices. Stands offer 5000 seats, with 3200 for seated spectators. Each year, around 400,000 people pass through its doors.

Major expansions occurred in 2001. Renovations from May to September 2006 cost 3.7 million euros. The work focused on the roof, acoustic treatment, and fire safety.
The Patinoire Charlemagne is home to the Lyon Hockey Club. It also houses the Club des Sports de Glace de Lyon. This club produced Olympic champions Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizerat. World champions Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder also trained here.
