Manolo Puente skillfully constructed the refuge. It opened in 1969-70. The Refugio Italia Manfredo Segre has a capacity of 60 people. It offers cooking facilities a dining area and even a small kiosk. The location is spectacular. It sits at 1650 meters above sea level. Surrounded by dark rocks the refuge provides access to various mountains. You can easily reach Cerro Negro Cerro Bailey Willis and Cerro Marino.
