Journey with me back to 1954. That was the year several house gatherings united under Pastor Gerhard Krüger. This marked the beginning of what we know today as Jesus Centrum Kassel.
Jesus Centrum Kassel started as Freie Christengemeinde. Early meetings occurred in a hall on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße. The church officially registered as a society in August 1965. In 1973, they moved into their first building on Akazienweg.
For many years, the Akazienweg site hosted services and events. 1984 was an important year. Matthias Jordan became the pastor. He shaped the church’s development for 40 years.
The church rebranded in 1996. It became known as Jesus Centrum Kassel. During this time, the church experienced significant growth. New ministries started like the Royal Rangers and women’s ministry.
A new hall opened in Kassel-Niederzwehren in 2002. This larger location accommodated the growing congregation. It hosted large events and conferences.
In 2024, Matthias Jordan passed the baton to Gideon Illner. This marked a new chapter for Jesus Centrum Kassel.
Jesus Centrum Kassel is a modern church. It belongs to the Bund Freikirchlicher Pfingstgemeinden KdöR. That is the Federation of Pentecostal Churches. It has over 500 members in Nordhessen.
The church offers more than Sunday services. These services are even broadcast live on YouTube. Over 150 young people gather on Fridays. This is thanks to the children and youth ministry. Throughout the week, people meet in over 40 small groups.
The vision of Jesus Centrum Kassel is powerful. It is “As in heaven, so on earth”. They connect people and inspire meaningful lives. They want to experience God’s reality and transforming love. This happens through praise and worship. They anticipate healing and miracles. They focus on faith-strengthening teaching and listening to God.
The motto of Jesus Centrum Kassel is simple. It is “Close to God and close to people.” They want to feel the heartbeat of God and people. They aim to guide people on their journey with God. They want people to discover their purpose. They encourage experiencing His love and making a difference.
Jesus Centrum Kassel is part of the Evangelischen Allianz. It is also part of the Arbeitskreis christlicher Kirchen. That is the Association of Christian Churches.
They believe in a God who is accessible. He is still relevant today. They believe God came close through Jesus. God loves relationships. He guides people through daily life. This is through highs and lows. They believe the Bible speaks to people. The Holy Spirit inspires them. They adhere to the apostolic creed of the early church.
The church emphasizes several core beliefs. They believe in God as a caring father. They believe Jesus is the hope of the world. They believe the Holy Spirit is God’s presence on Earth. They consider the Bible their foundation. They see the local church as a living community.
Baptism is a public declaration of faith. They baptize those who consciously choose to live with Jesus.
