Envision a serene escape. It lies nestled between the bustling Bois de Boulogne and the flowing Seine. This is the Parc de Boulogne – Edmond de Rothschild.

This vast green space spans 15 hectares. The Parc de Boulogne – Edmond de Rothschild offers a peaceful retreat. It is ideal for those seeking respite from city life.

Once, this land belonged to James de Rothschild. In 1817, the young banker acquired it. He envisioned a grand estate. By 1856, a Louis XIV-style chateau stood proudly here.

Imagine the lavish receptions held at the chateau. Famous figures like Chopin and Clemenceau graced these halls. In 1886, Edmond de Rothschild inherited the domain from his father. He left his mark on the park.

Edmond added an English garden in 1860. Later, between 1900 and 1930, a Japanese garden was created. By 1924, the “Routin” area was complete. It featured unique basins and rock formations.

During World War II, the chateau faced troubled times. Germans and Americans occupied the estate. The A13 motorway’s construction in 1974 further impacted the domain.

The municipality of Boulogne-Billancourt acquired the remaining 15 hectares in 1982. The Parc de Boulogne – Edmond de Rothschild was then opened to the public. Although the chateau remains unoccupied, plans exist to renovate it.

Wander through the park. Admire the remarkable trees. You will see plane, lime, and birch trees. A big pond stretches across the domain’s heart.

Cross the Japanese-style red bridge. Woods and lawns border this picturesque scene. The Japanese garden offers tranquility. It is a romantic and shady retreat. Though changed, it retains its charm.

Explore the Routin area. The basins and rock formations evoke the Vosges mountains. It is a surprising landscape. Wildlife thrives here. Ducks, coypus, terrapins, and pikes inhabit the park.

The Parc de Boulogne – Edmond de Rothschild is more than just a park. It is a place where history and nature intertwine. It is a testament to the Rothschild family’s legacy. It is a green haven for all to enjoy. Take a moment to appreciate this unique space. Reflect on its past and present beauty.
