Nestled in Shepperton, Surrey, Littleton CofE Infant School has a captivating story to tell. Littleton CofE Infant School isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to over 200 years of educational dedication. The school’s roots trace back to a time when the local Squire offered a room in the Manor House for village children to learn. Littleton CofE Infant School has always been at the heart of the community. In 1873, the Squire generously provided a dedicated School House and Hall, used for education until 1976 and now serving the community. The current building, modern and well-equipped, has a strong connection to the Church. The Bishop of Kensington himself laid the foundation stone in 1969. By 1970, all the children were learning within these new walls. Littleton CofE Infant School embraces a rich history intertwined with the Church of England. This connection comes with responsibilities, including building insurance and maintenance. A dedicated School Maintenance Fund, supported by St Mary Magdalene Church and parents, helps maintain the high standards. The school is a Voluntary Aided State Nursery and Infant School for children aged 2 to 7. With Headteacher Blair Poland at the helm, the school currently has 107 pupils, with a capacity for 142. Four classes cater to different year groups. Children typically start in the academic year they turn five. Reception children can attend full-time from September. Littleton CofE Infant School proudly supports inclusion, adapting the curriculum and resources for children with disabilities or special educational needs. The school boasts a modern building with spacious grounds and updated facilities. In 2006, renovations brought a new group work room, improved play areas, a refurbished classroom, and updated lighting. All classroom windows and doors were also replaced in 2009. When children reach seven, they transition to local junior schools, primarily St Nicholas Church of England Primary School or Saxon County Primary School. St. Nicholas prioritizes Littleton students, offering them places up to their maximum class size. Littleton CofE Infant School also houses Littleton Explorers Nursery, a testament to their commitment to early childhood education. This teacher-led nursery offers a rich learning environment, fostering a love for active, play-based learning. As you stand before Littleton CofE Infant School, you’re not just observing a building. You’re witnessing a legacy of education, community, and faith, spanning over two centuries.
