The artists parked their RV in Belltown while they worked. They painted on the side of Bedlam Coffee. That’s a cafe on 2nd Avenue between Bell and Blanchard.
The artists weren’t just painting. They were living the Seattle experience. They walked to Pike Place Market. They bought Rainier cherries and Turkish delights. They even got inspiration from the market for their mural. They incorporated local suggestions. The mural includes the Space Needle Pike Place Market the Seahawks and Mariners. It even has coffee beans totem poles Gasworks Park and more. The artists even got help from University of Washington art students. They added community ideas to the mural.
The big “S” shows the Space Needle and the skyline. The artists added a fun touch. They put a battery-powered LED light on top of the Space Needle. It’s a cool interactive detail for nighttime viewers. The “E” originally showed the Pike Place Gum Wall. It was fun but got gross. They replaced it with the Rainier Beer logo.

He later opened Block 41 an event space that features the mural. They even brought the artists back in 2017 to touch things up after construction.
