Tucked away in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood stands Epiphany United Church of Christ. It’s a living testament to the power of faith, resilience, and community. Epiphany United Church of Christ traces its roots back to the late 19th century. It was a time when German immigrants sought solace and community in a new land. While the church has deep historical roots, it experienced a rebirth in the early 2000s. A large influx of young families transformed the congregation. Today, Epiphany United Church of Christ boasts a vibrant, intergenerational community. With a membership of 284, the church sees around 90 people at its weekly Sunday service. Over half of the congregation has some college education. A remarkable 40% are children and teenagers, while another 46% are young adults. This makes it a relatively young congregation for a mainline church. They have a strong Sunday school program, adult Christian education, and even a thriving youth group partnered with Ravenswood UCC. Epiphany United Church of Christ is deeply committed to social justice and radical welcome. It is an Open and Affirming Congregation, embracing diversity in all its forms. Every Wednesday evening, the church hosts a Welcome Meal. This hot meals ministry serves around 90 people, offering not just nourishment, but also connection and a sense of belonging. The church is predominantly white, but actively seeks to become more racially diverse. Epiphany United Church of Christ is more than just a place of worship.
