Who would have thought that tucked away in Kassel’s old town, near Pferdemarkt, is the vibrant Galerie Feiertag? Galerie Feiertag isn’t your typical stuffy gallery. It’s a breath of fresh air, a non-commercial space dedicated to showcasing the works of emerging, mostly young artists. For five years, Galerie Feiertag has been a hidden gem. It’s located in a central spot, yet often overlooked. The gallery champions those outside the established art scene, giving them a platform to experiment and connect. One unique aspect of Galerie Feiertag is its use of a billboard. Located on the corner of Bremer Straße and Artilleriestraße, the billboard extends the gallery’s reach beyond its walls. It spills art into the city streets, inviting passersby to engage with the works. Galerie Feiertag is a space for dialogue, a place where local and international artists can exchange ideas. They connect with art enthusiasts and neighbors, creating a community around art. This dynamic hub was founded by Kassel artist and illustrator Janosch Feiertag during his studies at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. For the past two years, he’s been co-directing the gallery with artist Malte Stiehl. Galerie Feiertag continuously evolves. From mid-June to mid-September, the gallery hosts a series of five exhibitions. These exhibitions feature ten international artists and two guest curators, ensuring a diverse and engaging program.
