But tragedy struck on February 28, 1972. A fire consumed the original Bukit Panjang Gospel Chapel building. Imagine the scene. Flames leaping into the night. Smoke billowing. The heart of the community reduced to ashes.

Did this deter the congregation? No. Services continued under a tent. The community’s spirit remained unbroken. They worshipped with unwavering faith.

Construction of a new Bukit Panjang Gospel Chapel began. On November 24, 1973, the new building was dedicated. It was a moment of triumph. A symbol of hope restored.

The Bukit Panjang Gospel Chapel underwent renovations in 1982. An extension was added in 1988. The church continued to grow. It adapted to the needs of its members.

Today, Bukit Panjang Gospel Chapel thrives. Every Sunday, services are held. These services are for both English and Chinese-speaking members. Around 250 to 300 believers gather to worship.
