Sanayi Mahallesi is now called Sultan Selim. This change happened thanks to an approval by the Istanbul Governorship on April 13 2015. The new name comes from Sultan Selim Caddesi. This is the longest and main street in the area.

For sports fans Sanayi Mahallesi has three amateur football clubs. These are Sanayispor İstanbul Bayburtspor and İstanbul Gümüşhanespor. They play their matches at the Mehdi Sancak Stadium.
