A cold wind whispers secrets through the trees. Before you stands Vinterens Hjerte a heart of winter carved in black granite. This isn’t just any sculpture. It marks the center of a global art project.
Vinterens Hjerte or Winterheart is a series of invisible lines stretching across the globe. These lines form heart shapes. The idea is simple yet profound. People make these invisible lines visible. They plant trees. They lay stones. They create art. All to contribute to this massive artwork.
The story begins in 2003 in Aarhus. Jørn Rønnau received funding. He purchased about 1000 yew trees. Aarhusians planted these trees along the heart lines. They documented their work. They shared their photos and stories online. Students from various schools participated. Residents associations in Tilst and Skjoldhøjparken joined the effort. Aarhus Municipality’s Cultural Development Fund supported the project. So did the Green Fund HUSET and the Silkeborg State Forest District.
Vinterens Hjerte is more than just a sculpture. It’s a collaborative effort spanning countries and cultures. It bridges gaps. It connects people from different backgrounds through a shared creative endeavor. Think about it. A heart shape formed by the actions of countless individuals across the world. Each tree each stone a testament to participation and global connection.
This central marker in True Skov bears numbers 39 40 41 42 and 43. These mark the smallest heart lines of the project. The sculpture itself is a powerful symbol. It stands as a testament to human creativity and collaboration. It’s an invitation to participate and to become part of something larger than yourself. A symbol of hope connection and the enduring power of art to transcend boundaries.
Leave Vinterens Hjerte with a sense of wonder. Remember the global network it represents. Consider how you too might contribute to this unique work of art.
