In 1860, a pioneering vigneron named Hubert de Castella had a vision. He dreamt of a vineyard flourishing in the Yarra Valley. He took vine cuttings from the Airlie Bank vineyard, once located along Melbourne’s bustling Punt Road. He planted those cuttings on the land that now holds Punt Road Winery. Today, the Punt Road Winery sits on a stunning 58-hectare vineyard in Coldstream. The Napoleone family, now in its third and fourth generations, continues de Castella’s legacy. They own and farm this historic estate. Punt Road Winery welcomes visitors to its cellar door, nestled in the heart of the Yarra Valley. Here, you can enjoy a seated tasting. The knowledgeable hosts guide you through their wine selection. It offers an intimate experience, showcasing the best of the estate. After your tasting, explore the Picnic Pantry. Fill a basket with local cheeses, charcuterie, and other delicacies. Enjoy your picnic in the Marquee Bar or the gardens. Wines are available by the glass and bottle. There are lawn games and plenty of space to relax. Even your furry friends are welcome, provided they are on a leash. Punt Road Winery is also a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. This commitment reflects their dedication to preserving the land for future generations. So, raise a glass to history, family, and exceptional wine at Punt Road Winery.
