Within Masjid Baitushshidqi’s walls echoes a story. It’s a story of faith resilience and community. Masjid Baitushshidqi wasn’t always the grand mosque it is today. Its existence is deeply intertwined with the Pondok Karya Pembangunan (PKP) a significant project from Jakarta’s 1972 National MTQ. The PKP building served as a workshop training center for Indonesian pesantren managers.
Masjid Baitushshidqi was built to meet the spiritual needs of the community. It also served as a venue for various activities. The two-story mosque stands within the Jakarta Islamic School campus. This prime location makes it easily accessible and well-known. The upper floor is the main prayer hall. It can accommodate 500 people for daily prayers Friday prayers Tarawih prayers and Eid prayers. The lower floor serves as a multipurpose hall hosting weddings circumcision ceremonies seminars symposiums and reunions. This hall has a capacity of 400 people.
The history of Masjid Baitushshidqi involves a significant transfer of ownership. On April 28 1998 a Deed of Transfer formalized the mosque’s handover. Then on December 6 2004 a letter (number 04/BP/YPKP/XII/2004) sealed the deal. H Ali Sadikin the chairman of the PKP DKI Jakarta Foundation board of founders transferred the mosque to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This transfer was recorded in the Minutes of the Handover of Masjid Baitushshidqi on March 31 2005. It was signed by Ir TB M Rais the chairman of the PKP DKI Jakarta Foundation board of trustees and H Sutiyoso the Governor of DKI Jakarta.
