The Heimathaus Neureut stands as a testament to local heritage. It welcomes visitors to explore the captivating story of Neureut. The museum opened its doors on June 17, 1999. Since then, it has offered an overview of Neureut’s local history.
Step inside the Heimathaus Neureut. You will find a fully furnished Neureut apartment from around 1900. It includes a hallway, kitchen, living room, bedroom, and cellar. Imagine life in Neureut at the turn of the century.
Attached to the 1860s house are a barn and former stables. These spaces display numerous agricultural tools and implements. You can also explore an old shoemaker’s workshop. These exhibits offer a glimpse into the trades and crafts that shaped Neureut.
Upstairs, in the attic, discover the village’s founding and historical development. Pictures and documents tell the story. There is also a small ceramics exhibit. It showcases the Neureut Majolica Factory, which existed from 1925 to 1950.
Two additional rooms highlight Neureut’s club life. They also feature the regional association of the Danube Swabians from Kirchfeldsiedlung. The Heimathaus Neureut honors the community’s vibrant social fabric.
In the courtyard, you’ll see old town signs and border stones. A memorial stone from 1977 commemorates the forced incorporation of the formerly independent community. Also, admire the gateposts of the vegetable garden, dating back to 1777.

The Heimathaus Neureut has varied opening times. From April to July, it is open every first Sunday of the month from 2 PM to 5 PM. During the summer holidays, the Heimathaus is closed. The Freundeskreis Heimathaus hosts its annual courtyard festival on the second Sunday in September.
In 2024, the Heimathaus Neureut celebrates its 25th anniversary. On May 5, they will commemorate this milestone.
Before Neureut as we know it existed, there was Teutschneureut. In 1699, Huguenots from France moved into the area and founded Welschneureut. To differentiate itself, the old Neureut became Teutschneureut. Welschneureut and Teutschneureut merged in 1935. The town was again known as Neureut. Today, it is part of Karlsruhe.
