Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Jakarta, a beacon of faith stands tall: Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas. Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the dedication and vision of a community. Our journey begins in 1967, in the heart of Cipete. Influential figures from various housing complexes, including PDK, Kehakiman, Sekneg, and more, gathered with a shared dream. They envisioned a central mosque, a hub for Islamic teachings and community bonding: Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas. Their door-to-door fundraising efforts, spearheaded by individuals like H.D. Dachlan, resonated with the Cipete residents. The spark for Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas was ignited during Ramadan prayers, held rotatingly in homes, as recounted by H.MA. Husein, another prominent community member. Nine years later, this dream materialized into a humble prayer room, the precursor to the magnificent Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas we see today. Constructed between 1976 and 1979, the mosque’s realization is a tribute to the generosity of donors, zakat payers, and the dedicated congregation. Buya H. Amirudin Siregar, the first chairman of the YMAI (Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas) from 1975-1987, played a pivotal role in this transformation. Thirty-five visionaries laid the foundation for YMAI, their names etched in the foundation’s deed. The legal journey of YMAI, from its establishment on April 11, 1967, through various amendments, reflects the mosque’s evolving story. Today, Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas, located on Jl. Cipete 3, is a prominent landmark. Its two-story structure, encompassing 4,500 square meters, can accommodate up to 1,500 worshippers. The ground floor serves as a versatile hall for community activities, while the second floor houses the main prayer area, extended by grand additions on the south and east sides. Beyond its spiritual function, Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas is a center of learning and community support. Flanking the mosque are educational buildings, a kindergarten and elementary/middle school, and even a cooperative store run by Kopsyahira, catering to the community’s needs. Mesjid Jami Al Ikhlas stands as more than a mosque. It embodies the spirit of community, faith, and progress in the heart of Jakarta.
