During the First World War a German air raid hit Rue du Buisson-Saint-Louis. Number 28 was damaged. This street Rue du Buisson-Saint-Louis in the 10th arrondissement of Paris holds a fascinating history.

Originally a rural path it was lined with bushes. This path led to the Buttes-Chaumont. It transformed into a street in the 18th century. The name Rue du Buisson-Saint-Louis reflects its bucolic past near the Hospital Saint-Louis.

Before its current name it was known as Ruelle des Cavées. Later it became Rue des Moulins. The Verniquet map of 1790 shows it as Rue du Buisson-Saint-Louis. This name stuck.

A tragic story unfolded at number 19. Jean and Marie Moinon ran a cafe-restaurant there. The Gestapo arrested them during World War II. A plaque honors Marie Moinon though it incorrectly names her Berthe Moinon. A street in Paris Rue Jean-et-Marie-Moinon commemorates them.

Rue du Buisson-Saint-Louis measures 302 meters long. It is 13 meters wide. Its history is rich with wartime events and personal tragedies. The street also quietly remembers those who lived and worked along it. The street is a testament to both the enduring spirit and the fleeting nature of Parisian life.
