Established in 1904 Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church stands before you. Its history is rich with the stories of German-American settlers in rural Bexar County. They built their first church in northwest Bexar County in 1906. This humble beginning evolved into the vibrant community we see today.

By 1936 Zion boasted 225 baptized members. Their dedication extended beyond the church walls. They volunteered at the Lutheran Service Center. This was during World War II. They supported those serving their country. This highlights their commitment to community and faith.
Growth led to the dedication of a new sanctuary in 1950. Church #2 as it’s called seated 250 people. It served the community until 1988. The current sanctuary replaced it. It signifies Zion’s continued expansion and its commitment to accommodating its growing congregation.
In 1988 Zion moved into its current sanctuary and office complex. Renovations and expansion followed in 2017. A new Ministry Center wing was added. The center opened in 2022. It hosts classes rehearsals and meetings.
