Did the name Zellwood just pop out of thin air? No, it actually comes from a man named T. Ellwood Zell. Zellwood itself is a census-designated place in Orange County, Florida. T. Ellwood Zell started spending his winters here back in 1876. You can imagine how different Zellwood must have been then! The Zellwood Post Office opened just a year later in 1877. Zellwood has grown and changed a lot since then. However, that connection to its past remains. It’s intertwined with the very name of the place. Today, Zellwood is a vibrant community. It’s part of the larger Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.
