Why do kites dance like butterflies here? This is Yas Kite Surfing site. It is a place where the wind meets the sea. Here, kitesurfers find their haven.

Yas Kite Surfing site is about 20 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi. This long sandy stretch is also known as Kite Beach. Locals flock here when the wind picks up each afternoon. The aquamarine sea and the dipping, swooping kites create a mesmerizing scene.

The best months for wind are January through April. They also include September through December. The wind is often a trade wind. The best direction for kitesurfing is from the north. Northwest and NNW winds are great too.

Even with minimum winds of 12 knots, kitesurfing is popular. The average wind speed remains steady. It hovers around 6-7 knots throughout the year. The water here is shallow, flat, and sometimes choppy. High tide is the best time to visit. At high tide, there is about 150 meters of shallow water in front of the beach.

Be cautious of stones and shells on the beach. They can be hazards. The beach itself is a mix of sand and pebbles. It’s quite long, so there’s plenty of space. Stay clear of the power lines to the east of the location.

If you need gear, rentals and repairs are available. You can even find kite schools. Lessons are available for all skill levels. Coaches can teach you the basics in a day.

If you prefer relaxation, bring a picnic. Watch the kites dip and swoop. For a late-night swim, check out the “Smart Power Poles.” They light up the water until midnight.

To reach Yas Kite Surfing site, take the highway from Abu Dhabi towards Dubai. Pass Saadiyat Island. Then comes Yas Island with the F1 Racetrack. Take the first exit on Yas Island. Pass under the highway underpass going north. Follow the gravel road toward the sea. Turn right on the tarmac road. Cross the small metal bridge. Immediately after the bridge, turn right towards the beach.

At Yas Kite Surfing site, wind and water unite. Kitesurfers of all levels find something to enjoy here. Whether you seek adventure or relaxation, this spot promises a memorable experience.
