Yanchi Town, nestled in Mentougou District of Beijing, derives its name, meaning “Wild Goose’s Wings,” from a Yuan dynasty tale. The mountain’s silhouette against the sky resembled outstretched wings, a testament to the majestic birds that once graced this area. Yanchi Town’s story stretches back through time, from a simple village in the Ming and Qing dynasties to its incorporation into the Qingbaikou People’s Commune in 1958. It transitioned to a township in 1984, and finally, in 1994, merged with Tianzhuang Township to become the Yanchi Town we see today. In 2020, this town, covering 263.4 square kilometers, was home to 5,160 people. Yanchi Town isn’t just a name on a map. It’s a vibrant community divided into 24 subdivisions. These include one residential community and 23 villages, each contributing to the unique tapestry of Yanchi Town.
