The Coloane Yacht Berthing Area buzzed with activity. International brands like Azimut and Sunseeker showcased their luxury vessels. Domestic brands like Heysea Yacht Group also participated. The fair lasted four days. It included a forum and water sports activities.
The fair aimed to promote China’s burgeoning yacht industry. It provided a platform for discussing policy advantages within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Experts analyzed the industry’s development. They discussed yacht design manufacturing new energy technologies supply chains and consumer demand. This all opened new opportunities for the region’s growth.
But the Coloane Yacht Berthing Area’s story goes beyond exhibitions. It’s a key location in a trial scheme. This involves free-sailing yachts traveling between Zhongshan city and Macau. The area will provide approximately 170 berths. The Maritime and Water Bureau is renovating the Coloane Village wharf. It will act as an immigration checkpoint for yacht passengers.
Other berthing areas are planned. These include the Concordia Industrial Park pier. This pier will initially provide 50 berths. The government plans to involve the Macau Yacht Club and Macau Fisherman’s Wharf. This aims to boost the local yachting industry. Yachts participating in yacht expos may only stay for four days two before and two after the events.
Regulations are in place. Yachts from Guangdong can only stay a maximum of fourteen days. They cannot berth for more than six months in a twelve-month period. This ensures responsible use of the Coloane Yacht Berthing Area. The area’s significance extends far beyond its stunning views.
