Opened on June 28, 1997, the Xilang Metro Service Centre witnessed the birth of Guangzhou’s metro system. This unique arrangement accommodates both terminating trains at the Xilang Depot and those continuing on to Guangzhou East Railway Station. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Xilang Metro Service Centre faced a unique challenge. From May 29th to June 24th, 2021, access to the station was restricted. Entrances and exits were closed, preventing passengers from entering or leaving. However, trains continued to stop at Xilang, allowing passengers to transfer between lines. This resourceful solution kept the metro system flowing even during difficult times. Xilang Metro Service Centre is much more than meets the eye.
