Xaverian High School

Nestled in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn, Xaverian High School has witnessed a fascinating transformation. Initially established in 1957 by the Xaverian Brothers, Xaverian High School was originally an all-boys institution. The school’s motto, “The Truth Shall Make You Free,” reflects its commitment to a Catholic education. Xaverian High School is a private school, independent of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. It offers a college preparatory program for grades 9-12 and serves as a middle school for grades 6-8. Imagine the energy of over 1,000 students filling these halls. In 2015, a pivotal decision was made to welcome girls into the high school. The first co-ed class entered in the 2016-2017 school year, marking a significant shift in the school’s history. Xaverian High School also boasts a unique international connection. It maintains a cultural exchange program with Sint-Franciscus-Xaveriusinstituut, a sister school in Bruges, Belgium. Students from Xaverian have the opportunity to experience life in Belgium during the winter, while Belgian students visit New York City in the fall. Xaverian High School’s dedication to education has nurtured many notable alumni. From Emmy-winning actor Michael Badalucco to NBA star Chris Mullin, Xaverian graduates have made significant contributions to various fields. Actor Scott Baio and comedian Pete Davidson also walked these halls. Their presence adds a touch of Hollywood glamour to Xaverian’s rich history.
