“Two villages become one.” This is the story of Xã Quang Tiến, a commune nestled in Trảng Bom District, Vietnam. Xã Quang Tiến wasn’t always a single entity. It was formed from the merging of two distinct villages, Yên Quang and Phác Tiến. Imagine the lives intertwined, the shared histories now united under the name Xã Quang Tiến. Originally, both villages belonged to Kỳ Sơn District. In a fascinating twist of administrative history, Xã Quang Tiến and its antecedent villages shifted between districts. Yên Quang, one of the parent villages of Xã Quang Tiến, moved to Lương Sơn District in 1948, then back to Kỳ Sơn, before finally settling within Trảng Bom District as part of Xã Quang Tiến. The year 2019 marked a pivotal moment for Xã Quang Tiến. The National Assembly decided to merge Kỳ Sơn District into Hòa Bình City. As a result, Yên Quang and Phác Tiến were combined to create the Xã Quang Tiến we know today. This union, formalized on January 1, 2020, brought together a population of over 6,000 people spread across 40 square kilometers. Xã Quang Tiến stands as a testament to the evolving landscape of Vietnam. It showcases the dynamic nature of communities, where boundaries shift and histories merge, creating a unique and vibrant tapestry.
