Gospel Truth Tabernacle of God was founded in February 1984. Mother Teveta Kirkwood led the way. Her sons Donald L and Clinton Jr assisted. Felton Williams Jr her brother also helped. The church incorporated in Michigan. Elder Clinton W Kirkwood Sr became the first pastor. He was appointed by Mother Kirkwood.
Sister Ola Thomas was the first member. She was Mother Kirkwood’s sister. The church grew quickly. It moved from a basement to the Brightmoor Recreation Center. Later it moved to its current location on Ogden Street.
In 1999, Gospel Truth celebrated a mortgage burning. In 2000, Elder Kirkwood became a Bishop. This was thanks to Apostle Henry Brownlee and others. Donald, Bishop Kirkwood’s son, joined the ministry. Bishop Kirkwood retired in 2002 due to illness.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God. The church believes in one God Jesus. He revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus was both human and divine.
Salvation comes through believing in Jesus. It requires repenting sins. Baptism in Jesus’ name is essential. Receiving the Holy Spirit is also vital.
The church anticipates the rapture. The dead in Christ will rise. They will meet Jesus in the air. The antichrist will then appear. A seven-year tribulation will follow.

Word Of Truth Ministry became Word Of Truth Ministry And Worship Center. The first Bible Study was November 19 2002. It was held at Hopkins’ Senior Citizen Recreation Center. The first worship service was November 24 2002. It was at the same location.
The ministry moved to Garners Ferry Road. The first service was December 1 2002.
In 2005, the ministry enlarged its mandate. It aimed to develop true worshippers. The second Scripture adopted was John 4:23. The ministry moved to Leesburg Road. The first service there was July 3 2005.
