Wolgye-dong covers 4.26 square kilometers. This makes it a significant area within Nowon-gu. In 2001, its population was about 90311. The population density was around 21000 people per square kilometer. That is about 55000 per square mile.

The name Wolgye-dong comes from Korean words. 월계동 is Wolgye-dong in Hangul. 月溪洞 is Wolgye-dong in Hanja.
