Wondering what makes those blades spin near Stäbelow? It’s the Windpark Stäbelow, a testament to renewable energy in Rostock.
The Windpark Stäbelow wasn’t built overnight. Back in 2011, areas in Stäbelow were identified for wind turbines in the Rostock region’s spatial development program. The State Office for Agriculture and Environment Middle Mecklenburg granted the necessary approvals.
The size of the designated wind suitability area determined the number of potential wind turbines. The number of possible plants depends on the size of the suitability area and the planned plant size. According to this, a total of 13 wind turbines could be built here.
Currently, the Windpark Stäbelow consists of two sections. The older section has five e.n.o. energy 92 turbines. Each has a power of 2,200 kW and a diameter of 92.8 meters. These five turbines give a total nominal power of 11,000 kW.
The newer section of Windpark Stäbelow has two Enercon E126/3500 turbines. Each of these powerful turbines has a nominal power of 3,500 kW and a rotor diameter of 126 meters. Together, they contribute 7,000 kW to the park’s total output.
NEAG Norddeutsche Energie AG operates another part of the wind farm since 2019. This section contributes 11 MW to the total capacity of the Windpark Stäbelow.
However, getting new wind turbines approved hasn’t been easy. The lower nature conservation authority and the German Weather Service have raised objections. The wind farm operator is seeking clarification. The community accompanies the process and ensures compliance with the legal framework.
The community remains committed to overseeing the project. It also ensures strict adherence to the legal framework. It is still unclear how many additional wind turbines will be built at the Stäbelow location. The municipality will keep the public informed.
The Windpark Stäbelow, with its mix of older and newer turbines, exemplifies the ongoing efforts to harness wind power in the region. So next time you see those blades turning, remember the story of Stäbelow’s commitment to a greener future.
