Access to the Wilstedter See is easy via Schleswig-Holstein-Strasse on the western shore. A small path runs along the western, southwestern, and southern banks. Harksheider Strasse ensures convenient access to the southeastern part of the lake. A small road branching off this street leads close to the southeastern shore.
The lake does not have any natural inlets or outlets. So the water quality depends on other factors. Wilstedter See is a popular spot for swimming. Swimming is allowed between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.. Keep in mind that Costa Kiesa is an unsupervised bathing area.
Anglers will find a variety of fish in Wilstedter See. These include eel, zander, carp, trout, pike, and tench. Various types of whitefish also swim in the lake. Fishing at Wilstedter See is restricted to members of the Sportanglerinteressengemeinschaft Proppenkieker Kaltenkirchen Tangstedt von 1973 e.V.. Unfortunately, guest fishing permits are not available.
