Celebrating Thanksgiving at Wilmington Missionary Baptist Church? That might sound unusual, but in 2014, the Wilmington Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah hosted a Thanksgiving feast. It wasn’t in November. It took place on September 27th, from 10 am to 2 pm, at 3321 Skidaway Road. This wasn’t your typical Thanksgiving spread. It was a community gathering, a chance for Savannah residents to come together and share a meal at the Wilmington Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Joey Horton Sr., along with Sis. Patricia Bynes and Sis. Sandra Carter, organized the event. They welcomed donations from anyone willing to contribute. This event speaks to the heart of the Wilmington Missionary Baptist Church’s mission: community and service. It demonstrates how the church goes beyond traditional Sunday services to offer support and fellowship to those around them. It’s a reminder that Thanksgiving, the spirit of gratitude and sharing, isn’t confined to a single day in November. It can be celebrated any time, especially at the Wilmington Missionary Baptist Church.
