What began as a vision in 1936 became a reality in 1937. This is Williamwood Parish Church. Its foundation stone marks the start of a vibrant community hub.

Williamwood Parish Church stands as a testament to faith and architectural style. James M Honeyman designed this red brick building. It includes a short belltower. Lawns and mature trees surround the church.

Initially, the interior had an austere feel. Over time colourful stained glass windows enriched the space. These additions softened the atmosphere. They created a more welcoming environment.

Dedicated in 1952 the WW2 Memorial takes the form of the church lectern. It stands as a reminder of sacrifice and peace. The lectern invites reflection. It also honours those who served.

Williamwood Parish Church embraced technology early on. In 1972, the Allen Organ company installed its first digital organ in Scotland here. The Model MOS-600 cost £5910. That is approximately £67500 today. The organ celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011. It continues to fill the church with music.

Many remember Rev. Colin Campbell. He served the church from 1949 to 1989. Rev Iain Reid also left a mark. He served from 2007 to 2014. He had previously been Chaplain to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Today, Rev Jan Mathieson leads the congregation. She came from Cawdor and Croy Parish.

Bright Sparks and Sunday Surfers engage the children. Youth Burst is there for older kids. The Boys’ Brigade and Girl Guides are strong here. Many community groups use the building. Mother and Toddlers meet here. The Clarkston Playgroup and dance classes also use this space.

Williamwood Parish Church opens its doors. From February to June and September to December, you are welcome. Visit weekdays from 9.45 am to 12.00 noon. The Iona Chapel offers privacy and peace.

The church celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2012. It continues to evolve. Williamwood remains a central part of Clarkston. It provides a space for worship and community.

As you leave Williamwood Parish Church, consider its history. Think about its impact on the community. Remember the vision that brought it to life. It is more than just a building. It is a living testament to faith and community spirit.
