This five-acre triangular park, nestled in the heart of Beverly Hills, has a captivating story to tell. Will Rogers Memorial Park, bordered by Sunset Boulevard, Canon Drive, and Beverly Drive, started as part of the Beverly Hills Hotel’s grounds in 1912. In 1915, the hotel generously donated the land, creating Sunset Park, Beverly Hills’ very first park. As the film industry blossomed nearby, Will Rogers Memorial Park became a popular spot for stars. The park even graced the silver screen in several films. A central promenade, lined with majestic palm trees and neat shrubs, divides the park. Near the Sunset Boulevard entrance, a charming plaza encircles a raised oval fountain and pond, teeming with koi fish and turtles. Graceful paths radiate from the plaza, leading to diverse garden spaces. These spaces showcase open lawns, a striking dragon tree, vibrant roses, evergreen shrubs, and delicate flowering trees. The park’s perimeter is adorned with a dense border of palms and narrower walkways. Will Rogers, the beloved entertainer, held the title of honorary mayor of Beverly Hills in 1926. In 1952, the park was renamed Will Rogers Memorial Park in his honor. A major renovation in 1997 restored the park to its 1920s glory, removing additions from the 1950s.
