Didn’t the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold Gau Hannover already exist? Wilhelm Heese was a member. He was also a victim of National Socialism. Wilhelm Heese was born on February 16, 1890, in Linden. He died on February 22, 1933, in Hanover.

Wilhelm Heese was murdered in an SA attack. This attack targeted a “Schufo” unit formed in 1930. The unit was protecting an SPD election rally. The rally was at Lister Turm before the Reichstag elections on March 5, 1933. Heese was shot in the back.

In 1955, a section of Davenstedter Strasse was renamed Heesestrasse. Wilhelm Heese has an honorary grave at the Ricklingen city cemetery. The location is Abt. U11, Nr. 64. A memorial plaque was placed at Lister Turm for Wilhelm Heese. Another plaque is part of a picture wall in Bertramstrasse.
