Picture a sprawling green expanse. That’s Wiesenpark. Nestled in Berlin’s Marzahn-Hellersdorf district it’s a haven of natural beauty. This isn’t just any park. Wiesenpark boasts a unique history a story woven into its very landscape.

Created between 1996 and 1997 Wiesenpark covers approximately 23 hectares. It’s a tranquil escape bordered by the Landsberger Allee the Wuhle River and the Eisenacher Strasse. The park’s design is a testament to thoughtful planning. Landschaftsarchitekten Bauermeister Koehler Pütz Gruppe F created this masterpiece. Their work earned them first prize in an international competition in 1997.

Wiesenpark is more than just grass and trees. Two playgrounds add to the charm. Wiesentraum playground is a wonderland. Two hundred robinia trees create a whimsical forest. Nets ropes and play structures transform this area into an adventure playground. Blauer Wuhl playground is equally captivating. Centered around a tree-like sculpture it offers climbing frames a slide and various play elements.

Hidden within the park is a larger pond. A bridge spans its calm waters. An observation platform provides stunning views. A wooden sofa sits majestically on a rise. A boardwalk leads to this elevated vantage point. A promenade with balconies runs along the western edge offering panoramic views of the entire park. Artistic elements are scattered throughout. The wide-open spaces offer endless possibilities for recreation.

Wiesenpark underwent a significant renovation between 2015 and 2016. This was in preparation for the 2017 International Garden Show IGA. The Wiesentraum playground was completely redesigned. A new entrance was created on Landsberger Allee. Paths were resurfaced and new benches were added. The renovation of the Wiesentraum playground alone cost 175000 Euros. Eighty tree trunks were replaced. Thirty were artistically carved and lacquered green. The renewed playground opened in June 2016. It was officially inaugurated on August 30 2016.

Wiesenpark is more than a park. It’s a living testament to thoughtful design community engagement and the enduring beauty of nature in the heart of a bustling city. It’s a place where families gather children play and everyone can appreciate Berlin’s green spaces. Enjoy exploring this remarkable place.
