Quiet reflection awaits you here. The Westfriedhof Rostock stands as a testament to remembrance. It serves as a final resting place for many.

The Westfriedhof became necessary in 1977. The Neue Friedhof Rostock could not expand. There were not enough burial spaces anymore. The city needed more room for its dead. The Westfriedhof provided that space. It covers 18 hectares now. That ensures sufficient burial plots for Rostock for years to come.

The Westfriedhof offers two halls for funeral services. Feierhalle 1 is the larger of the two. It can accommodate about 150 people. Feierhalle 2 is smaller. It holds around 40 people. These halls provide space for mourners to gather. They can remember and celebrate the lives of the deceased.

The Friedhofsverwaltung is open certain days. You can visit Tuesday from 9 AM to 12 PM and 1:30 PM to 6 PM. Also Thursday from 9 AM to 12 PM and 1:30 PM to 4 PM. You can contact them by phone. Call 0381 381-8662 for the Neuer Friedhof. Call 0381 381-8529 for the Westfriedhof. You can also email friedhofsverwaltung@rostock.de with your concerns.

Find a Grave lists some details about the Westfriedhof. It has about 454 memorials. Around 78% have photographs. Roughly 71% have GPS coordinates. This helps people locate specific graves.

The Westfriedhof is more than just a burial ground. It is a place of peace. It allows visitors to reflect on life and death. The well-maintained grounds offer a tranquil setting. Here, memories live on. The Westfriedhof ensures that Rostock has a dignified space. It meets the needs of its citizens in times of sorrow.
