Did someone say “Frog Farm”? That might sound strange, but it’s actually connected to the history of Westbury High School. Right here, before the modern structure stands, once existed a unique educational facility. Westbury High School first opened its doors in the fall of 1961. The school, with its classic three-story design, became a mainstay of this community.

In those early years, Westbury High School was home to a special place called the Living Resource Center. Students and teachers affectionately nicknamed it the “Frog Farm.” Why? Because it housed a variety of plants and animals used for science classes, and yes, that included frogs!

Over time, Westbury High School, like any good school, needed to adapt and grow. The “Frog Farm” eventually made way for progress. In 2001, the main building was deemed unsafe. A brand new campus arose in 2004, offering modern facilities for the 21st century learner. Interestingly, Westbury High School has seen its graduation rate climb significantly, from 67.4% in 2009 to an impressive 88.5% more recently. This incredible achievement is a testament to the dedication of the students, teachers, and the entire community.

Today, Westbury High School is a vibrant hub of learning, with an award-winning Fine Arts Magnet program and robust Career in Technology Education offerings. From its humble beginnings, complete with a “Frog Farm,” Westbury High School has blossomed into a place where students not only graduate but thrive.
