What if I told you that the Weißer Schöps/Neiße is more than just a name on a map? It is a Saxon administrative region brimming with history and natural beauty. The Weißer Schöps/Neiße is a Saxon administrative association. It lies in the district of Görlitz. Its seat is in Kodersdorf.

The Weißer Schöps itself is a river. It snakes through the landscape. It eventually joins the Schwarzer Schöps. This river belongs to the Elbe river system. It flows through the Spree and Havel.

The Weißer Schöps springs from the northern edge of the Großen Nonnenwalds. This forest lies about 15 kilometers west-southwest of Görlitz. The source is south-southwest of Deutsch-Paulsdorf. It is between Reichenbach and Bernstadt auf dem Eigen. The Schwarzer Schöps originates a few kilometers west. From its source, the Weißer Schöps flows mainly northwest. It runs between the Lausitzer Neiße and the Spree.

The Weißer Schöps/Neiße region is located in the eastern part of the district. It is about 15 km northwest of Görlitz. It is also 10 km south of Niesky. The communities lie in the valley of the Weißer Schöps. They are surrounded by the wooded area. This area is west of the Lausitzer Neiße and the Königshainer Berge.

The B115 and the A4 run through the area. The A4 passes under the Königshainer Berge. It uses the 3.3-kilometer-long Tunnel Königshainer Berge. In the municipality of Neißeaue, there is a loop of the Neiße. This loop contains Germany’s easternmost state office.

In 1996, five municipalities merged. Deschka, Horka, Kodersdorf, Neißeaue and Schöpstal formed the Verwaltungsverband Weißer Schöps/Neiße. This was to handle their administrative matters. Deschka was incorporated into Neißeaue in 1999. This reduced the number of member municipalities to four.

The administrative association includes Horka. It also includes Kodersdorf, Neißeaue, and Schöpstal. The Weißer Schöps/Neiße offers a blend of history and nature. This makes it a unique place in Saxony. It is a region where the past and present intertwine.
